Spring Semester 2011: Week 8 - Women in Technology
Hello again students! This is a very special week/month as this week we focus on a very important topic, Women in Technology (WIT). March also happens to mark Women's History Month which makes this week that much more special. To help celebrate we've got not one, not two but FIVE professors teaching this week! So far we've had some great posts by Jes Borland and Julie Smith and we've got more up on deck from Audrey Hammonds, Jen McCown and Wendy Pastrick. As always don't forget DBA Coach LaRock has some great info at his site as well. As an additional treat, next week we're going to have our next installment in our Live Lecture Series featuring a WIT panel made up of this week's professors. Keep an eye out on SQLLunch.com for more details (Details will also be available in next week's newsletter).
In addition to WIT Week here at SQLU there's another great event celebrating women, and that's 24 Hours of PASS event. In celebration of WIT, all of the presenters are women from the community (from all around the world!). There are tons of great topics and awesome presenters and best of all, it's FREE! Click the banner below to check out the event site and register today. The event is March 15-16:

Fourteen years ago, she volunteered for DBA training to escape COBOL, and never looked back. A firm believer that good fundamentals and solid design can save a database professional’s sanity, she has devoted much of her career to designing (hopefully) elegant databases and straightening up others’ not-so-elegant databases. Audrey has run the gamut from Database Developer to Production DBA to Architect.
