SQL University Student Union Official newsletter for SQL University. Fall Semester 2011: Welcome Back! For those new to SQL University, welcome! And for returning students welcome back! I hope everyone had a great summer. Mine was particularly exciting as this past July I was officially awarded the designation of Microsoft MVP! I was also fortunate enough to have been a part of the NASA Tweetup to watch STS-135, the last Space Shuttle, land in Cape Canaveral which was really, really cool. This semester we have some great stuff for you. As always you'll get free top-notch SQL Server content from experts all around the world including Grant Fritchey, Tom LaRock, Stacia Misner, Brian Kelley, Aaron Nelson and many more! In addition to the usual posts from the professors, we're also trying something new out this semester that I'm REALLY excited about! Typically every week we have Tom LaRock serve as the DBA coach. He posts a kind of summary post on the topic of the week pointing out more resources for you to explore on the given topic. This semester we're adding a new interactive element to SQL University we're calling Office Hours, or Afternoon Ignite with Tom LaRock! Each week Tom will host a 30-60 minute Hangout on Google+ that will feature that week's professor. They'll discuss that week's topic and since it's a Hangout it's open to the public so you can join and chat directly with the experts! Hangouts are limited to 10 people so make sure you join early to ensure your seat! If you don't have a Google+ account you can get [1]one for free by clicking on this link. Each week's event will be hosted and posted by Tom LaRock so make sure to [2]add him and [3]myself to your Circles. The session link will also be tweeted out from our Twitter account ([4]@sqluniversity) so look for it there as well. You can also find us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/SQLUniversity (we're just a _little _social here).
